Those arguments are great and all, but this time next year kuz will
still be posting about how there are no PHP developers taking him up on
his offer (not for more than 5 metaphorical minutes anyway) (´∇`)

Remember, a site that was as big as 8chan had to go as low as relying
on Joshua freaking Moon to develop their new software, because:

1. Nobody could understand the mess that was vichan/infinity and it was
   fundamentally b0rked/flawed
2. People with the skillset to create new imageboard software wanted to
do their own thing (which at the time was basically just Stephen
Lynx, and we all know how much lynxchan sux)
3. Virtually nobody wanted to work for Jim Watkins because he was a
sketchy pig farmer, despite it being a paid position (hell, they
even flew Josh out to the Philippines to live with them and provided
him with food, drink, and "meds")
4. There was literally nobody else willing to take on the job despite
the site having several thousand users (including many programmers)

The real kicker? Josh's resulting software SUCKED and was immediately
abandoned after it went live, and from then on everyone just put up
with the very b0rked and unstable vichan fork instead. By the time of
8kun, the software was so b0rked that it barely loaded and everyone
just abandoned it (´∇`)

That's why Heyuri was a real golden goose when it had someone like
lolico at the helm, who was working on the site out of passion and had
enough sk1llz that he could fix bugs and add new features on a regular
basis. Obviously he wasn't so great at security, doing things like
"giving out root access to random people on the internet", but that's a
whole other issue (;^Д^)

I dont know who's sketchier, pig farmer or russian gangster.

I wonder if these people would have more luck if they didnt use PHP

haha I remember this whole saga Infinity next TM had all these stupid features
that no one asked for, and an ugly nue-age ui. I might still have recordings
somewhere of the Inext test site and how totally broken it was. I would say
josh accidentally killed 8chan, but if you looked into fred any time around
that totally real trust me shooting that took the site off ciaflare you will
see it wouldn't have been able to operate under his control for much longer
to begin with. Anyway I think josh tried his best. He did make something and
it was kinda unique and cool, it could have probably been fixed up over time
to become something pretty good. ヽ(´ー`)ノ

The real, REAL kicker is that one of the big reasons 8chan ran so
poorly in the first place (leading to INFINITY NEXT™) was because
8/a/'s auto-moderation bot was effectively DDoSing the site for years
without anyone realizing until after 8chan was already dead (´∇`)

Anyway, Josh later did fix it up and used it for 9chan.us/9chan.tw
after 8chan died - it wasn't too bad actually, but even that site is
gone now (;´Д`)

At the very least, it's open source if anyone wanted to use it
(although I think jschan is probably the better choice now):
