A common theme in interviews with the OGs I've read/seen was that they
were basically all trying to sound as alien and mind-blowingly
futuristic as possible - from Italo Disco to Electro to Acid House to
Techno to Hardcore to Jungle to DnB ヽ(´ー｀)ノ
That said, the deeper, soulful, jazzier sounds were always there too
