How were people translating foreign language text before google translate came out? I was reading some archives of a forum from 2002 where someone has made a post in some Balkan language, and someone had to come and manually translate it to English

Babel fish only has an handful of language options available... What if someone made a post in a more obscure language, liek serbian for example? Make a forum thread and hope someone would translate?
