■My entire life I thought PHP stood for "pretty happy programmers"
│but it turns out it stands for "personal home page"
│Last night when I searched in quotes "Pretty happy programmers" google gave
│me NO results, but today when I do it I now have a bunch of results.
│I think I have broken out of one mandellu effect reality into another!

│Is PHP that good? Why does it have so bad reputation?
│
└■The general opinion is that it was a very popular and initially not
│very good language that was easy to get poorly-written and half-assed
│code kinda/sorta working, leading to a lot of n00bs and amateur program-
│mers putting out a lot of bad code/advice/resources that never got
│checked or replaced, leading to a lot of serious vulnerabilities and
│problems across the web, leading to a bad reputation (;´Д`)
│
│A lot of this is said to have been solved over the years, particularly
│with PHP7, but there's still a lot of sites using old and slow versions
│of PHP and amateur code written a decade or two ago... あ。(;゚∇゚)

From my experience, PHP 7 is rather fast within web, faster than some
Python or moreover Ruby.
I saw 8.1 came out. Should I use it if I decide to develop my BBS with
PHP?
