Made me realize what happened to our imageboards was pretty much the same cycle. #007f7f was most commonly used by Shiba and others between late 97 and mid 98 (there's logs/archives of some of them out there, but they're not easy to find), and Shiba's final "Main" board (@Webdesign) used #004040, which became the more prominent color from mid 99 onwards The teal/dark teal is actually very consistent with Win9x/NT's default teal background and Netscape's dark teal logo/branding, and a lot of other websites and applications of that era adopted a teal accent for (presumably) the same reason - it was very much the color of the time! Take Slashdot for example, which has used a teal color scheme since launching in 1997: https://web.archive.org/web/19980113191222/https://slashdot.org/ Regarding the splintering - I think it's just human nature. You can see the same thing happening in every imaginable field and avenue of life throughout all of history (;^Д^) Reference: 2022/07/06(Wed) 02:18:18
