The reason for the change is because it's actually まったり and not またり as I previously thought, and doubling the consonant after っ or ッ is the convention in waapuro-style Hepburn romanization (which is the form of romanization we typically use) The only source for またり I had was the kaomoji dictionary file I found and shared here ages ago, but it's very clear from doing more research and digging through old ayashii logs that many of the names/ terms written in that file are highly abbreviated and/or misleading - they don't match what ayashii residents actually call those kaomoji (like プックス being written as ぷくす, which made it impossible for me to find anything about it until I happened across: http://strangewalker.web.fc2.com/pukkusu.htm ) (And speaking of that site, here's one of the pages on mattari, which you'll see is romanized as "mattari" in the URL: http://strangewalker.web.fc2.com/mattari.htm ) Regarding the argument that you've seen "matari" spelled that way... every single instance of it on Strange World prior to me announcing "Matari AA" earlier this month was written by me. I messed up! (;´Д`) Reference: 2022/05/30(Mon) 14:13:23
